Scriptores passim, species Μαντικῆς, quae per sortes divinabat, et Graecis Κληρομαντεία in genere dicta est, ᾽Ραψῳδομαντείας nomen accepit; cuius itidem varii modi erant. Interdum nobilis alicuius Poetae selectos versus in pittaciis describebant, quibus in situlam coniectis idem ordo, qui in aliis fortitionibus servabatur: et de hoc genere proprie dici consuevit, Κλῆρος ἐξέπεσε, Sors excidit, vel exstitit. Interdum versus fatidicos in tabella describebant, et talorum arbitrante aleâ divinationem peragebant: qui πίναξ ἀγυρτικὸς sive ἀγυρτικὴ σανὶς est, in lbris Graecorum celebris. Fuit et, cum temere arreptô et apertô Poetae alicuius librô, ut quidque primum oculis se obiecerat, pro sorte id et oraculi locô haberetur, uti docet Augustin. Confess. l. 4. c. 3. et supra diximus.
